125th Anniversary: Puyallup's Quasquicentennial
Incorporated in August 1890, the City of Puyallup celebrated its 125th birthday in 2015. The city partnered with the Meeker Mansion, the Puyallup Main Street Association and Banner Bank to honor the history of Puyallup and commemorate this special anniversary.
The year-long festivities kicked off with the planting of a Giant Sequoia in Bradley Lake Park in April and the 125th Anniversary-themed Meeker Days Festival in June. In August, the Meeker Mansion hosted numerous special events (PDF) and many folks enjoyed the community celebration (PDF) on August 19th which featured special guests and interactive activities.

Every year, folks look forward to being able to meet local farmers, buy fresh produce and enjoy the bustle of one of Washington State’s Top 5 Farmers Markets. Rainier Country Show
Pierce County TV's "Rainier Country" show produced a segment on the history of Puyallup, especially for the city's 125th anniversary. The show can be watched online.
Historic Building Scavenger Hunt
May 1 - May 31
In association with National Historic Preservation Month and as part of Puyallup's Quasquicentennial celebration, the City’s Development Services Department/Planning Division coordinated a scavenger hunt involving historic architecture (PDF) in the downtown. For the contest, participants searched out and identified ten particular structures, all of which are on either the local, state, or national historic registers. Thanks to everyone who participated in this unconventional scavenger hunt, and congratulations to Bayus Hadjes for his winning entry!
Meeker Days Festival
June 19 - June 21
125 years is quite a birthday! And Puyallup celebrated with the largest street festival in Pierce County. Puyallup Main Street Association brought food, music and entertainment for all ages straight to the heart of the city during this sunny, fun-filled weekend! Meeker Mansion Quasquicentennial Events
August 9 - 23
The Historical Society at Meeker Mansion provided a variety of fun experiences and events (PDF) to celebrate this very special anniversary. From tours, games and lectures to a Good Ole Summertime Revue, folks were able to find something for the whole family!
125th Anniversary Event: August 19th
The Puyallup community came together on August 19th for an evening of live music, refreshments, historic displays, and tales from the past to commemorate Puyallup officially becoming a city on this same day in 1890. The family-friendly celebration (PDF) was held in Pioneer Park Pavilion, where numerous folks took the opportunity to post their special memories of Puyallup on the interactive community timeline.
