These vital institutions have tremendous impacts. They offer advanced learning, research opportunities, internships and career counseling. Thousands of WSU and Pierce College alumni enjoy satisfying careers and contribute immeasurably to the social and economic fabrics of their communities, wherever those may be.
Since 1894, WSU’s Puyallup Research and Education Center has developed and furthered technological innovation, food production and natural resource stewardship. WSU Puyallup REC is home to more than 20 research and extension programs working to support and grow local communities, watersheds, landscapes and farms.
Pierce College Puyallup serves 7,000 students annually and has won numerous national awards and accolades as a high-performing institution committed to the success of its students. Pierce College Puyallup drives economic and community development by collaborating with employers to address current and future workforce educational needs.
In 2019, the City of Puyallup sponsored its inaugural "College Appreciation Week" to recognize and celebrate the presence of WSU and Pierce College in Puyallup. Banners lined the streets in the downtown, and members of the community and alumni from both schools gathered to enjoy free lectures, musical performances and a tailgate party, among many other events and activities.
