As a major business and residential center of East Pierce County, the City of Puyallup is home to two regional retail and commercial districts, a 14-member car dealers’ association, a modern regional medical campus, and the seventh-largest fair in the United States.
All aspects of City life are significantly impacted by the health of its economy. The important role of Puyallup's economic development efforts in maintaining its position as a thriving community and a quality place to live and work, cannot be overstated. Through its major planning efforts including the City Strategic Plan, Comprehensive Plan, and the Downtown Economic Development Plan, Puyallup is committed to strengthening the City’s economic diversity, branding and placemaking efforts, and its business and development climate.
The following three key performance measures are used to track and share progress on the Vibrant Economy goal of the City Strategic Plan 2021. For each measure, the metric box indicates its current level and improvement status.
Over time we expect to identify and display specific targets to measure progress, where appropriate.
