2021 Annual Amendments
The City of Puyallup considers amendments to the Comprehensive Plan and Future Land Use Map once each year. Applications were due by April 1, and the City received one privately initiated application for consideration in the 2021 amendment cycle. The typical process for review includes holding work sessions with the Planning Commission over the summer months, a Planning Commission public hearing and recommendation in late Summer or early Fall, and consideration of that recommendation by City Council in the fall, with City Council action by the end of the year. There may be some adjustments to the process or structure of the meetings this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
The Planning Commission held work sessions on May 12 and July 14, 2021. The Planning Commission agenda packets, which include additional information on the application, are posted on the Agendas webpage. Please see the next section for information on upcoming meetings and public hearings.
Planning Commission Public Hearing - August 25, 2021
The Planning Commission held a public hearing on the application at their August 25, 2021 meeting. The Commission deliberated immediately following the public hearing and voted 5-1 on a recommendation of approval to the Puyallup City Council.
City Council Meetings
Study Session - September 21, 2021 at 6:30 p.m.
City staff will provide an informational overview presentation on the 2021 privately initiated Comp Plan Amendment application for the Puyallup City Council at their study session on September 21st. Citizen comments will be accepted at the end of the meeting.
Public Hearing - October 26, 2021 at 6:30 p.m.
City Council will hold a public hearing and first reading of an ordinance on the privately initiated Comprehensive Plan Amendment application. Public testimony will be accepted during the public hearing. Written comments will also be accepted; please see the Agendas, Minutes and Videos webpage for information on how to submit comments. The City Council will then hold second reading on the ordinance at a future meeting, which is anticipated to take place on November 9, 2021.
Tackett Fourplex Application
- Permit Number: L-21-0002
- Location: 824 3rd St NE (Tax Parcel Number 0420272124)
- Proposal: The applicant requests to change the future land use designation of one parcel totaling 0.746-acres from the current split designation of Auto Oriented Commercial (AOC) and Low Density Residential (LDR) to High Density Residential (HDR), and change the associated zoning from CG/RS-06 to Multi-Family Residential (RM-20). A non-project SEPA environmental checklist has been submitted and is under review; a determination will be issued prior to the Planning Commission Public Hearing. NOTE: the application materials and the Notice of Application (NOA) brochure reference the current zoning as CG/RS-04, which is incorrect. The correct zoning is CG/RS-06.
