Stormwater management is not just about getting stormwater out to our waterways, or back into the ground anymore. Today it is also about protecting our waterways, ground waters, and infrastructure from pollution, restoring fish habitat, and reducing the impacts of land development on these resources.
Puyallup utilizes Low Impact Development (LID) in new capital projects as well as retrofits to support compliance with the NPDES Stormwater Permit as well as provide improved overall stormwater management within the city. Many LID-centric capital projects are managed by the Stormwater Section. Read about current water quality improvement projects, LID retrofits, and riparian and stream restorations underway as well as those in the planning and development stage. By implementing stormwater retrofit, restoration, and improvement projects, we make room for growth in our city, and reduce the effect land development imposes on our waterways.
