Location


Puyallup’s location in East Pierce County is part of the gateway to Mount Rainier National Park and other nearby outdoor activities. At the same time, the City is within the thriving Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area, with close access to the many cultural and social attractions of the region. Historic Downtown


Founded in 1890, Puyallup has a historic downtown with many older commercial buildings, surrounded by traditional neighborhoods of vintage Craftsman homes.

Residences


With almost 60% of the City’s land area devoted to residential areas, Puyallup contains numerous distinct neighborhoods with a variety of housing types and choices.

Schools


The City of Puyallup is entirely contained within the Puyallup School District, which has an excellent reputation for its K-12 schools. It is also home to the Cascade Christian School District, Pierce College’s Puyallup campus, and provides easy access to nearby four year colleges UW-Tacoma and Pacific Lutheran University.

Health Care


Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, part of the Multicare system, is the largest medical facility in East Pierce County. In recent years, a major upgrade was made to the Good Sam campus, including a state-of-the-art new Patient Care Tower. Numerous private medical offices and clinics are located in proximity to Good Samaritan.

Parks, Recreation, Library, Senior Activity Center


Puyallup has one of the best parks system in the region, ranging from larger regional to smaller neighborhood spaces. Downtown Pioneer Park is a popular community gathering spot which hosts a large seasonal farmer’s market and a summer concert series. The City also runs year-round recreational leagues for all ages. Puyallup also has a major City Library and Senior/Activity Center, which are well-used by citizens.

Washington State Fair


Puyallup is home to the Washington State Fair - one of the largest State Fairs in the nation. Other than the Fair in September, the Fairgrounds also hosts many other large scale events and attractions throughout the year.
