Summer Reading
Starting June 1 - Summer Reading 2022 at the Puyallup Public Library
How do I Start?
To get the most out of your summer reading experience, we recommend that you create a Beanstack account. Parents can also create accounts for their children. In Beanstack, you can view the available activities, enter the books you have read, write book reviews, browse booklists, and more. You will receive prizes as you progress and be entered into drawings at the end of the summer. To register, visit the Beanstack website or login through the app.
Beanstack app available for iOS and Android.
Kids and teens who sign up for the challenge can pick up a book from our main desk. Adults who register for the challenge can pick up a free tote bag (while supplies last). Kids and teens who finish their challenges get another free book and adults who finish get a free drink coupon for Anthem (while supplies last). Super readers who do 20 hours or books or more will be entered to win a gift card.
Beanstack will automatically direct you to the appropriate activities based on your age. There are three age groups: kids, teens, and adults. If you wish to be contacted about prizes and drawings, please include an email address or telephone number as part of your Beanstack profile.

Alka Joshi Author Event - July 7th at 6 p.m.
Join us for an enchanting evening with New York Times Best Selling author and Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick Alka Joshi as she discusses her captivating and bestselling novels, The Henna Artist and The Secret Keeper of Jaipur.
Alka Joshi was born in India and immigrated to the US when she was nine years old, and published her debut novel, The Henna Artist, at the age of 62. Vivid and compelling in its portrait of one woman’s struggle for fulfillment in a society pivoting between the traditional and the modern, The Henna Artist leads the audience on a journey through 1950s post-independence India that is all at once lush and fascinating, stark and cruel.
In this interview, Alka will share her inspirations for her work, how her mother’s life story has influenced her writing, and her experience and role in the creation of a Netflix series based on her books. Bewitching the senses, Joshi’s The Henna Artist invites you to feast on Indian culture with mind, body, and soul. Author Q&A to follow the talk!
We will be hosting this in the North/South rooms on July 7th at 6 p.m. for anyone who wants to participate with others. You can also register for this author talk and check out other online author talks here: https://libraryc.org/puyalluplibrary
