At Large - Renne Gilliam
Renne Gilliam was elected in 2023 to serve the At Large position on City Council for the term 2024 to 2027.
Renne, a proud 4th generation Puyallup resident, draws inspiration for community service from her family's legacy. Despite a mischievous youth, Renne's transformative experiences include living in South Africa and extensive travels across the United State. These adventures molded her ability to connect with diverse backgrounds.
Renne has a rich history of serving the local community. From directing the Puyallup YMCA Youth Investment Center to teaching Native American History at the Karshner Museum, her roles have always been rooted in Puyallup. Currently, she is a Career and Technical Education Teacher in the Puyallup School District
Service to Community
Renne's commitment to community service extends beyond employment, evident in her volunteer work with Friends & Servants and various non-profits, where she emphasized teaching teens the value of community ownership and resourcefulness. As Past President of the Rotary Club of Puyallup, she played a key role in supporting local initiatives, including the Teen Center in the Puyallup Library.
With deep ties to civic clubs, non-profits, and generational connections, Renne aims to leverage her extensive network to connect people with the resources they need. Her leadership philosophy centers on listening to constituents, collaborating with the council, and supporting city employees to enhance Puyallup's well-being. Renne prioritizes public safety, affordable living, and sustainable growth, envisioning a safe, thriving, and prosperous Puyallup that preserves green spaces and supports a thriving business community.
