The city of Puyallup extends its condolences to the family of Mayor Emeritus Donald E. Malloy, who served on the Puyallup City Council for twenty years, including two terms as mayor.
Malloy achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force before settling his family in Puyallup, where he began a career in school administration and eventually became the principal of Ferrucci Junior High. An advocate for fiscal responsibility, Malloy demonstrated a strong commitment to Puyallup’s schools and residents during his time on the City Council. He supported completing the Shaw Road extension and construction of the skate park, Riverwalk Trail, Pioneer Park Pavilion, Puyallup Activity Center, and Sam Peach and Bradley Lake Parks. He was also a proponent of televising Council meetings and upgrading the city’s emergency radio system to better serve the public.
Malloy was preceded by his wife, Ivonette, in 2009. He is survived by his three children and his grandchildren.
