The fall Washington State Fair starts on September 1st--if you live nearby and will offer parking on your property to visitors, there are some things you should know.
The city requires those whose property can accommodate 15 or more cars to obtain a business license. The cost is $37.50; you can fill out the application and turn it in at city hall.
If your property has a capacity of less than 15 cars, no license is needed--however, we ask that everyone who provides parking to fair visitors review pertinent safety and other information. Traffic can be heavy at times, and with so many vehicles and pedestrians on the roads and sidewalks, it's important to maintain adequate sight distances, keep travel lanes clear, and take precautions while trying to attract potential customers into your lot.
The Fair has been a part of Puyallup's history since 1900--it's truly part of what makes Puyallup Puyallup. We ask that those who take advantage of the influx of visitors in September do so with all proper care, and we wish you success and happy Fair-ing!
