The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) recognizes that traffic volumes on the Meridian overpass at SR512 often exceed capacity and result in back-ups and delays. To address these issues, the Legislature directed that a feasibility study be conducted for improving traffic flow at this location.
The study has been completed, and WSDOT has identified potential improvements to reduce congestion and improve mobility. This project could affect 31st Avenue SW from 9th Street SW to the intersection of Meridian (SR161) and 35th Avenue SE. Public comment on those potential improvements will be sought over the next few weeks, as follows:
- WSDOT staff will be at the Puyallup Farmer's Market on Saturday, October 14th from 9 am to 2 pm to share visuals and answer questions; and
- An online open house will be available from Oct. 23rd to Nov. 6th with information and the opportunity to submit comments.
