[ARCHIVED] Artist Anne Doane featured in "City Gallery" starting January 10th

Tranquility by Anne Doane

On Thursday January 18th, the City of Puyallup will host a reception for artist Anne Doane whose work will be featured in “City Gallery” on the fifth floor of City Hall beginning Wednesday, January 10th. Doane’s pieces consist of oil and watercolor paintings and mixed media work.

Using a unique blend of impressionism and realism to paint landscapes, still life and more, Doane’s artwork conveys a spirit of calm and balance. She works in oil, watercolor, alcohol ink, mixed media, collage and other mediums, choosing the medium to best suit the subject matter and convey mood.

Doane’s interest in drawing and painting began while attending high school at Charles Wright Academy in Tacoma. She continued to study art at the University of Puget Sound and graduated from The University of Washington.

Doane has received awards for her oil, watercolor and mixed media work.  Her art has been accepted to the Washington State Fair Fine Art competition for the past 17 years.  Her paintings have been displayed in various South Sound galleries and juried shows including Federal Way City Hall, Lakewood Artsfest, Lakewold Gardens, Town of Steilacoom Fireside Gallery, Premier Gallery, Franke Tobey Jones Art Show, Tahoma Center Gallery, Emerald Downs Equine Art Competition, and Xanadu Online Gallery.

Doane is an active member and the secretary of the Rainier League of Arts and Pacific Gallery Artists. Her work will show at City Gallery through April 5th.

City Gallery is free and open to the public during regular business hours. The gallery is curated by Arts Downtown, a local organization dedicated to supporting and promoting local artists with the vision of making art an essential part of the Puyallup community. City Gallery offers both established and new or emerging artists a place in which to showcase their work.
