The Foothills National Recreational Trail extends from Puyallup to Orting to South Prairie, and from Buckley to Wilkeson to Carbonado. The three-mile section between Buckley and South Prairie was recently completed; a ribbon-cutting ceremony will celebrate this connection on Saturday, May 19th.
If you would like to join Puyallup Mayor John Palmer and the Tacoma Washington Bicycle Club to ride out to the ribbon-cutting, meet at the East Puyallup trailhead (13810 80th Street) at 9 am on the 19th. The ride out to South Prairie and back will measure approximately 30 miles round trip.
The Foothills Trail offers a safe, well-maintained corridor for walkers, runners, equestrians, bicyclists and skaters. The trail winds its way past natural forested areas, active farmland and rural residences, and serves as a linear park that is open from sunrise to sunset.
