[ARCHIVED] Puyallup In Motion Outreach Effort

In Motion travel advisors will help people try new ways of getting around, including riding the bus, carpooling, biking and walking instead of driving alone.

In Motion will visit about 5,000 Puyallup residences. Each team member will wear a uniform and display photo ID. They will never ask to enter a resident’s household. Residents who are not available at the time of the team's visit will receive a door hanger inviting them to contact the In Motion team at their convenience.

Materials provided by the In Motion team will include transit schedules, a neighborhood map, a tote bag, and a two-week trial transit pass.

This outreach effort will later be evaluated to determine its effect on travel modes. Similar projects elsewhere have had great success, with drive-alone travel reduced by five to 15%.

This effort is being coordinated by Pierce County. If you have questions, please call 253-252-6682 or email inmotion@sdgworld.net.
