The City of Puyallup will nominate a local student to compete for a “Center for Quality Communities Scholarship” offered by the Association of Washington Cities (AWC).
Six students in Washington state will each be awarded a $1,000 scholarship in recognition of their involvement with their community and/or local city government. Completed applications are due at 5:00 pm on Friday, February 22nd. Application materials and instructions can be found at AWC Scholarship.
Students competing to be nominated for this scholarship must:
- Reside or attend school in the Puyallup School District;
- Graduate from high school, home school or receive a GED in spring/summer 2019;
- Continue education at an accredited post-secondary institution in the 2019-2020 academic year on a half-time or more basis; and
- Have been involved with a city government or with a community/school leadership activity.
The AWC Center for Quality Communities promotes municipal leadership development and civic engagement. The Center’s goal is to develop a broad public understanding of how cities and towns work to provide needed services and programs. The Center believes in educating student leaders who care about their communities.
