On Thursday, June 20th, the City of Puyallup will host a reception for Maren Williams, the artist currently featured in “City Gallery” on the fifth floor of City Hall. Williams's show displays numerous pieces of her vivid, colorful work in watercolor, acrylic, oil and mixed media. Maren Williams is a proud fifth generation Washingtonian. She graduated from Clover Park Technical College with a degree in interior design. Interested in art since a young child, Maren sold her first painting at the age of 13. Since then, she has illustrated flyers for Puyallup's Friends of the Library, created art promoting the Mother's Day Tea at the Meeker Mansion, designed and executed two murals at the Expedia Building in downtown Tacoma, and assisted with the design and painting of sets for the Tapestry Players in Puyallup.
"Inspiration is the key to my paintings," said Maren. "Many things inspire me-- from music to stories, from poetry to the paint itself. " Maren has shown her artwork at the Puyallup Chamber of Commerce, the Front Street Gallery in Poulsbo, the Washington State Fair, the juried show at Kent Cantebury Fair, Puyallup Powwows, HG Bistro, The Fred Oldfield Center, Starfish Studios in Seattle, The Eatonville Arts Festival, and at the Puyallup Art and Wine Walk at her current place of employment, Newell Hunt Furniture in Puyallup.
