We want to briefly respond to the media report that a person with COVID-19 was transported today from a Kirkland senior care center to MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup. The patient was transported in accordance with MultiCare’s participation in the Northwest Healthcare Response Network, a collaboration of healthcare providers that work together to prepare for and respond to emergency situations. The City has been in contact with the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department (TPCHD) and MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital regarding this matter. The patient’s transport and care followed strict protocols and standards that protect the persons interacting with the patient.

The City has been and will continue to be in daily contact with the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, Pierce County’s Department of Emergency Management, health system partners, and many others involved in this important response to the COVID-19 matter.
